Named by Haast in 1865 for the Austrian emperor; the Māori name tells of a frozen avalanche of tears.
Cape FoulwindLandmark
Cape Foulwind: named by Cook for the weather. A fur seal colony lives below the walkway.
The seal colony at Tauranga Bay has pups from December; the walkway runs 3.4 km.
